Experiential Learning
The Experiential Learning team within the Teaching and Learning Commons aims to make "learning by doing" more accessible at UC San Diego. Our team focuses on building bridges between 1) theory and practice 2) college experiences and career opportunities and 3) academics and co-curricular experiences. While we have signature programs and tools, we also hope to elevate experiential learning opportunities across campus.
Together, the Commons EL team guides students to:
- Discover research, internships, campus employment, community engagement, leadership, and other applied learning opportunities through the REAL Portal.
- Enroll in experiential learning courses and programs, including the Academic internship Program (AIP), UC Washington Center (UCDC), and UC Center Sacramento (UCCS) to connect classroom learning with real-world practice.
- Capture their experiences and skill develop through the Co-Curricular Record (CCR), creating an official record that complements the academic transcript.
- Reflect on their experiences to identify transferable skills, strengthen Career Readiness Competencies and confidently articulate the value of their learning.
