REAL Portal Faculty/Staff Resources

The newly consolidated REAL Portal is live!

Recently the Commons Experiential Learning team worked to bring together our three programs—REAL, AIP InternLink, and the Co-Curricular Record (CCR)—into one streamlined system for ease of usage by students, faculty, staff, and employers.

The upgraded REAL Portal will serve as a one-stop—all things Experiential Learning (EL) Opportunities—platform for students, staff, and faculty to discover, post, and manage experiential learning opportunities.

Faculty and staff can use the REAL Portal to:

• Post new EL and AIP opportunities for students to apply to
• Post new Co-Curricular Record (CCR) opportunities
• Filter across all programs, competencies and opportunity types
• View students interested in your opportunities
• Receive bundled applications for EL and AIP postings
• Validate students for your CCR positions

During Fall 2025, the Commons Experiential Learning Team hosted REAL Portal training sessions and drop-in support for faculty and staff, including how to post opportunities and its newly consolidated CCR and AIP modules. Please contact elt@ucsd.edu if you would like a focused overview for you and your team.

Students will be able to navigate the REAL Portal to:

• Discover and apply for EL opportunities (revamped REAL) that connect to research, internships, service-learning, clinical labs, and other applied learning experiences affiliated to UCSD.
• Enroll in Academic Internship Programs (AIP) courses to gain real-world experience, explore career interests, and work with a faculty advisor to bridge classroom learning with professional practice.
• Capture and showcase their involvement through the Co-Curricular Record (CCR)
• Reflect on your learning and skill development of Career Readiness Competencies
