Co-Curricular Record (CCR)

Light blue background with dots of color and the CCR logo in the center of the image

Drop-in HoursUC San Diego has an official record called the Co-Curricular Record (CCR) which highlights student involvement and achievements in opportunities beyond the classroom. Each opportunity includes a brief description and the competencies and skills developed on an official CCR transcript.

Log in to the CCR Portal at myccr.ucsd.edu.

The Co-Curricular Record recognizes student involvement in:

  • Research / Academic Life
    • ex. undergrad research, tutoring, academic publications
  • Student Engagement / Campus Life
    • ex. leadership, mentorship, athletics, clubs
  • Community-Based / Global Learning
    • ex. external community engagement, international opportunities
  • Professional / Career Development
    • ex. work study, internships, workshop series

All positions displayed on the CCR transcript have been verified by the CCR Evaluation Committee, and student involvement has been validated by a recognized staff or faculty member.

What are the criteria to be approved in the CCR?

In order to be approved for the Co-Curricular Record, the position must meet the following criteria:

1. Must have a clear connection to the university and be capable of being validated by a recognized member of the faculty or staff.

2. Must enhance at least three of the twelve identified competencies and transferable skills.

3.  Must provide an opportunity for active engagement. Positions or activities that are primarily symbolic, and do not require significant programming and duties, will not qualify to be listed.

4. Must require at least 30 hours of work within a single academic year.

5. Must include hours and deliverables beyond the scope of academic credit-bearing components to avoid duplication of the academic transcript.

My position is CCR approved, how do I add it to my record?

Students can add approved positions to their record by logging into myccr.ucsd.edu with their student SSO credentials and following the steps below.

  • Click the "Co-Curricular Module" link in the left navigation menu
  • Click the "Add an Experience" button underneath your name
  • Select the academic year under the "Period" dropdown
  • Search for your activity or position title in the right search bar
  • Click the " + " button on the correct position (will show "Add to Record" when hovering over it)
  • Once added, the identified UCSD staff or faculty member will confirm your participation through the CCR Validation process

Note: Until the staff or faculty validator has approved the request, the position will be listed as "Pending" in the student's Co-Curricular Record. It is recommended that students reach out to validators directly to ensure this step is completed. If you are unsure who the validator is for your position, please email us at elt@ucsd.edu.

Can I request a new position be approved in the CCR?

After confirming that the position is not already recognized on the CCR Catalog, UC San Diego staff, faculty, or students may complete a Position Application in the CCR Portal. Completing an application is the first step towards having a position recognized on the CCR. Review next steps and additional resources on the CCR Application page.

Please note that a UC San Diego Staff or Faculty member must be confirmed as a validator in order for the position to be recognized on the CCR.

What is CCR Validation?

CCR Validation

Validation is the required process for confirming a student's completion of the 30-hour engagement requirement for approved positions in the CCR Portal. Until participation is validated by a faculty or staff member, it does not display on the student's record or CCR Transcript. This step can be completed at any point in the year once students meet the 30-hour requirement, but is typically done at the end of the academic year.

Who can validate students on the CCR?

A CCR Validator is a UC San Diego staff member or instructor who supervises or mentors a student in a co-curricular position and verifies the student's participation for the CCR at the end of the activity in the CCR Portal. Validators serve two important functions: highlighting their department’s contribution to experiential learning at UCSD, and helping their students track and capture their development outside of the class.
