UCSD's Co-Curricular Record (CCR)Example of the CCR transcript, listing date, activity, position, and competencies for each entry

UC San Diego's Co-Curricular Record (CCR) highlights student involvement and achievements in opportunities beyond the classroom. The official CCR Transcript displays a student's verified positions including time period, position title, short description and associated Competencies (transferable skills). Position verification occurs through the Validation process.

The CCR recognizes student involvement in:

  • Entrepreneurship
  • Global Experiences
  • Internships
  • Campus Employment
  • Leadership
  • Research
  • Community Engagement
  • Social Innovation
  • Mentorship / Coaching
  • Advising
  • Student Organizations

To be approved, CCR positions must:

  1. Provide at least 30 hours of involvement in an academic year
  2. Be verified by a UCSD staff or faculty member (Validator)
  3. Lead to the development of 3-4 UCSD Competencies
  4. Include hours and deliverables beyond the scope of academic course credit

If your position meets these criteria, complete these application steps to add it to your record.

Why should students use the CCR?

CCR Benefits: showcases transferrable skills, strengthens applications, encourages self-reflection, and supports goal setting

If you have any questions, please request a meeting with the CCR team or reach out to Laszlo Folks (lafolks@ucsd.edu).

Why the CCR beats a traditional resume

Why the Co‑Curricular Record (CCR) beats a traditional resume for students

  • sample CCROfficial university‑wide record – The CCR is an official transcript, home grown at UCSD and the only one in the UCs) that the Registrar issues alongside the academic transcript, giving it the same institutional weight that graduate schools and employers trust.
  • Verified by faculty or staff – Every position entered into the CCR is validated by a supervising faculty/staff member, ensuring the experience is an authentic and meets quality standards of active learning and engagement.
  • Built‑in career‑readiness competencies – Each entry automatically lists the specific competency (e.g., communication, teamwork, problem‑solving) the student demonstrated, aligning the student’s work with skills employers are looking for.
  • Portable proof of impact – Because the CCR carries the university seal and faculty/staff verification, it can be shared directly with potential employers or graduate programs as a trusted “proof of experience” rather than a self‑described list.

10 Years of CCR Growth and Participation

UCSD's Co-Curricular Record (CCR) was launched in the fall of 2015 with a few dozen student positions, and has continued to expand and evolve over the next ten years. For the 2024-2025 school year there were over 6,400 validated student positions, with more than 3,100 approved positions to choose from.
