Learning Agreement
Once a student has secured their internship and is ready to apply for AIP, they should submit a Learning Agreement in InternLink.
A Learning Agreement is a document between students, their supervisor and AIP on a student's goals and outcomes during the internship. Once this document is approved by both the AIP team and a students' internship supervisor, a PDF of the Learning Agreement must be attached to the Enrollment Authorization Request System (EASy) to be able to enroll in the course.

Required Information
A learning agreement must include the following information. A step-by-step guide for how to complete a Learning Agreement is available.
- Internship dates (start and end dates must align with dates of the academic term, Weeks 1-10)
- Internship schedule and hours
- Faculty Advisor contact information
- Internship details
- Organization name
- Supervisor Name
- Supervisor Title
- Supervisor Email
- Supervisor Phone
- Internship Title
- Internship description (responsibilities of the position)
- Determine three Learning Objectives
- Learning objectives should reflect concrete knowledge or experiences you hope to gain from the internship opportunity.
- Identify the steps that would help you to achieve those objectives
- A summary of your final deliverable
Note that the Internship Supervisor and Faculty Advisor are different individuals.
- The Internship Supervisor is the person at the internship site providing supervision for the position, assigning tasks to complete, providing mentorship, and evaluating the position.
- A Faculty Advisor is a UC San Diego faculty member that will be listed as the instructor of record and submits the grade for the course.
Submitting the Learning Agreement
Once the Learning Agreement is complete:
- Submit the Learning Agreement to AIP via InternLink
- AIP will review your Learning Agreement and will provisionally approve your application
- If revisions are needed, the Learning Agreement will be sent back to you for edits
- Your Internship Supervisor will receive an email requesting their electronic approval of the Learning Agreement.
- If the Internship Supervisor has not approved the Learning Agreement, it is recommended you reach out to them directly as there may be additional edits needed.
- If they did not receive the email, confirm that the correct email address was included in the Learning Agreement. If a new link needs to be sent, please contact AIP via the VAC or email aipinfo@ucsd.edu.
